It's always refreshing to find a slot machine with a theme that is not tired out, one that you haven't seen a hundred times already. The environment of horse races is definitely not one of the overused themes for slot machines, and so Frankie Dettori’s Magic Seven by Playtech has a good chance to catch your attention. In fact, even if you don't know that Frankie Dettori was a famous jockey and you only like horses in your salami, you can still enjoy the game. It doesn't matter at all. After all, it's all about winning.
A slot machine which could look better
Unfortunately, when designing this slot machine Playtech seemed to have thought the same. That's because, no matter how many times we looked, our verdict on the visuals stayed the same: it could be better. It's not that the slot machine is ugly per say; but it looks like it was made in a hurry, with little attention to the final product. The graphics are, well, definitely no-frills; you can forget about all the smaller details. The sounds are also nothing to write home about. The music is boring and to be honest we can't even remember whether there were other effects; at least we can say that they were not annoying.
Of course, one can easily forget about the visuals if the game is good and can captivate you by its gameplay. But here you'll also quickly find that the Frankie Dettori slot machine has little to offer. If you come expecting some interesting game variants or interesting bonus games, you'll probably be disappointed. Once again, it's all just average.
Bonus games in Frankie Dettori’s Magic Seven
The bonus games available in this slot machine are just the standard, run-of-the-mill ones. Wild and Scatter symbols + one special Magic Seven Bonus.
Let's start with the Wild symbol. This replaces an arbitrary other symbol with the exception of bonus ones. We were a bit surprised that the symbol depicts Frankie Dettori – on its own that would be fine, but the same character is also depicted on two other standard symbols. And since the photos are quite similar, sometimes you might not even be sure whether you actually got a Wild symbol or something else.
The Scatter symbol is, luckily, ok. It shows the game's logo, and so is hard to mistake for something else. If you successfully get 3 or more scatter symbols on your reels at the same time, you'll get into the special Free Games Race minigame. As the name suggests, you'll be participating in a horse race. Your task is to bet on the right horse. After choosing your horse, you'll watch a short race sequence. Your reward will depend on how the race ended. If your horse wins, you get 35 free spins; if it was second you'll have 15 free spins, and if it was third you get 10 free spins.
The last special feature is the Magic Seven Bonus. To get it, you need to get special Bonus symbols on the first and fifth reel. If you manage to do that, you'll be transferred into a minigame where you see a horse race track divided into several sections. Your goal is to select several sections which hide various winnings. If you're lucky, you might even get trophies. In that case, you'll first be treated to a short video of one of Dettori's great wins, and then the game will reward you with a higher winnings multiplier.
And if you think that you deserve a higher winning, you can also use the popular gamble function to multiply it further (available after the bonus game as well as out of it); there, your task is to choose the highest card out of all the available ones.
Try the game for free before betting
To play or not to play? Well, to be honest, it's a tough one. But if you're sick of all the fruity slot machines or desert-themed games, this slot machine could offer a much-needed breath of fresh air. Try out Frankie Dettori’s Magic Seven for free, without registration – and you can then decide for yourselves. But don't expect high production values. We've already said it several times and will also conclude with it: this is an average game. It will neither offend you nor sweep you off your feet. Try it for free and see if you like it.
